The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod is a good pick for people who are looking to upgrade their mornings. In this book, the author explains how you wake up every morning, and how you spend your mornings have a dramatic effect on the level of success you achieve in your life.
In this book, Elrod gives us a 6 process morning routine to get the most out of our day and which he calls Life S.A.V.E.R.S which stands for Silence, Affirmations, Visualizations, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing.
Silence
Most people right after waking up feed themselves with all the tension and stress of the world. They open social media, read unnecessary news and dwell on negativity. But successful people don’t do this. They generally start their day with silence.
It might sound a little silly to wake up and just sit in silence. By silence, it means to either meditate or pray. The endless benefits of meditations are now scientifically proven and it’s not just reserved for spiritual people.
Most successful people credit meditations for their peak performance and success.
Affirmations
Affirmations are positive statements that we repeat to ourselves, again and again, to make them stick in our subconscious. This creates an illusion in our subconscious to believe our statements and act accordingly.
For example, if you tell yourself, “I’m a writer”, again and again, this will make it stick in your subconscious. And once it sticks in your subconscious, then you’ll start acting like one.
Affirmations also help you to challenge and overcome your negative thoughts. When you repeat the same affirmations every day, it helps to transform how you think and how you feel. And when you do this, you overcome your self-limiting beliefs and behaviors and replace them with the ones that you need to be successful.
Visualization
Visualization is another powerful technique that can be used independently or with affirmations too. It is the process of using your visual memory to create images of what you want to happen in reality.
I think visualization is one of the most underrated brain exercises. It helps you to see things as you would like them to be instead of as they are. As our brain, can’t distinguish between what is visualization and what is real, it can also help to change our self-beliefs.
Affirmations and visualizations can be used in any area of our life where we want to see positive change.
Exercise
There are many benefits of doing exercise in the morning. It increases the flow of oxygen and blood to your brain. It releases endorphins, increases your energy level, and many more.
But to receive these benefits, you don’t need to do a 10-mile run or an intense cardio workout at the gym. It can be as simple as stretching for a minute or doing some pushups, or even jumping jacks. Just doing simple exercises for a short time can help give your mind give clarity and prepare for the day.
Reading
By reading, it doesn’t mean to read the news or stuff on social media. It means to read the books that help in your personal as well as professional development. Reading is a powerful habit and when done in the morning, you maximize its benefits.
Reading gets you inspired and motivated. It gives you new insights and valuable ideas that you can implement in your life. Self-help books are a great way to start your day
Scribing
Scribing is another important morning routine that you should follow religiously. Scribing means to write. Write about your goals, tasks that you need to complete, about things you are grateful for.
There’s something magic in writing down our goals that help us change them into reality.
Thanks for the great write-up! I enjoy writing and positive affirmations, but I struggle with maintaining concentration when it comes to visualizing my desires. Also, I find it challenging to visualize with precision. I feel like I am constantly distracted.
